5 Reasons You Should Try Edibles

Health & Medical Blog

If you're at a marijuana dispensary, you have a large selection of products that you can select. You can choose traditional marijuana, wax, oil extractions, edibles, and potentially other products. Wondering about edibles? Here are some reasons you may want to try them.

1. No Smoke

Obviously, with edibles, you simply ingest the THC by eating a food that has been infused with marijuana. As a result, you don't have to worry about filling your lungs with smoke as you do when you're using flower. Similarly, you are also not putting water vapor into your lungs as you do when you vaporize marijuana—although many people believe that vaporizing is healthier than smoke, there is evidence both ways, and with edibles, you don't have to worry about that debate.

2. Reduced Odors

In addition to protecting your lungs from the smoke, edibles don't produce any odors. Of course, they produce odors that can be detected by a trained dog, but they don't create smoke that is going to bother people. If you're using marijuana in a social setting or even in your home and you want to be discreet, edibles can help to make that possible.

3. Accurate Dosage

When you buy edibles from a marijuana dispensary, you can see exactly what the dosage is. Many edibles are gummies or other bites of food that have a specific dosage, or they may be candy bars where each square is a certain dosage. In contrast, with flower, you can usually see the strength of the marijuana, but to truly track your dosage, you need to weigh the marijuana before you smoke it and do a bit of math. When you buy marijuana, you can see the percentage of THC that's in it, but you then you have to multiply that number by the weight to assess how much THC you are actually getting.

4. Tasty Treat

As an added bonus, a lot of edibles are tasty to eat. You can get flavorful chocolates, fruity gummies, lemon cookies, caramel-flavored chews, and a vast range of other flavors and treats.

5. Longer High

With edibles, the high takes longer to take effect. While smoking tends to be instant, edibles need to digest a bit to get into your bloodstream. However, it's worth the wait because the high lasts longer. That said, some marijuana dispensaries are now selling strips that dissolve under your tongue and work faster than traditional edibles.

Hype up Your Hearing

I knew that my hearing wasn’t as good as it had once been, but I was still upset when my doctor told me that I had a significant hearing loss in both ears, and that I was going to need hearing aids if I wanted to participate more fully in my day to day life. But then I started researching hearing aids. I was thrilled to find out that there were small, barely visible aids that could help me hear without marking me as hearing impaired on first glance. Even better, the hearing aids were much more advanced than I’d thought. The ones that I chose can actually help cancel out environmental noise, like the clatter of a loud restaurant, so that I can focus on conversation with the waitress or the person across the table. My hearing aids have really improved my life.
