Amp Up Your Workout With An Energy Supplement Or Mineral Water

Health & Medical Blog

If you work out regularly, you may find that you reach a plateau from time to time, when you don't seem to be gaining muscle mass or stamina. Rather, you seem to be staying in the same place from a fitness perspective. Adding an energy supplement or mineral water may help you get over that hump and continue to progress toward your fitness goals.

Energy Supplements

According to the Journal of Sports Science and Medicine, a study showed that college-age men who were accustomed to resistance training were able to do more repetitions of resistance training when they consumed an energy drink ten minutes prior to exercising. The drink the subjects consumed included caffeine, taurine and other amino acids, glucuronolactone and other supplements. Average peak and mean power performance was also higher among those who consumed the energy drink than among those who didn't. The impact of the energy drink was that the athletes who drank it did more reps at higher weights than those who didn't. Both groups reported feeling similar levels of energy, but the performance of those who drank the energy drink was greater than that of those who didn't.

Mineral Water

You have to drink water before, during and after your workout. Mineral water can be a great way to keep you hydrated while it provides additional health benefits in the form of minerals. Mineral water is an excellent source of magnesium, which is needed for energy and helps regulate blood pressure and blood sugar. It has even been shown to be effective against migraine headaches.

Mineral water also includes trace minerals such as lithium. Used in large doses to treat some psychoses, lithium in the small doses found in mineral water can actually contribute to longer life spans and fewer instances of mental illness.

Some athletes find that mineral water, which is frequently carbonated, can be a challenge to drink in large quantities or while working out. The simple solution to this dilemma is to simply let the mineral water go flat before drinking it. The effect of the minerals is independent of the carbonation, so there's no loss of benefit if the water is flat compared to when it is 'fizzy.'

There are a wide variety of energy supplements and sports supplements available online. You may need to try a few different ones before you find one that works for you and gets you over that plateau to bring your fitness to the next level.

Hype up Your Hearing

I knew that my hearing wasn’t as good as it had once been, but I was still upset when my doctor told me that I had a significant hearing loss in both ears, and that I was going to need hearing aids if I wanted to participate more fully in my day to day life. But then I started researching hearing aids. I was thrilled to find out that there were small, barely visible aids that could help me hear without marking me as hearing impaired on first glance. Even better, the hearing aids were much more advanced than I’d thought. The ones that I chose can actually help cancel out environmental noise, like the clatter of a loud restaurant, so that I can focus on conversation with the waitress or the person across the table. My hearing aids have really improved my life.
